Talia Keys
Talia Keys
Talia Keys is a force to be reckoned with! As a genre crossing multi-instrumental "musical powerhouse" - SLC Weekly, she authentically performs and writes her brand of soul-funk-rock n' roll. Infusing unique vocal stylings with a storytelling hip-hop flow, while sourcing energies largely compared to the bluesy rawness of Janis Joplin and the fire of Jimi Hendrix. Synergizing that old soul vibe to new school beats. Best described by Katie Bain as "blistering." Having been "struck by her talent, stage presence and refreshing candor."- Insomniac: 2014 Best of Electric Forest.
Making a name for herself in music and now film. Talia is proud to be featured as "a new face" for Salt Lake City's tourism campaign, SKI CITY. Licensing her original song "Me", introducing the campaign as well as singing, playing guitars and drums through out their commercial. You may have seen it previewing for Warren Miller's 2016- Here There and Every Where, on-line winter sporting events and select cable networks, to name a few.
Based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, Talia entertains locally, nationally and in Europe. Playing solo, she'll live loop electric guitars, synthesizer, drum machine, beat-boxing and vocals for her one woman band, GEMINI MIND (evolving since 2010). Performing with TALIA KEYS & THE LOVE (band est. July 2015) she'll front as lead vocal/guitar (or lead vocal/drums when Dave Brogan is drumming for ALO, Incidental Animals..). Both projects perform all originals, a mix of originals and covers or a full on tribute show with THE LOVE (Bowie/Prince 2016, Michael Jackson, Woodstock 1969, Grateful-Dread, 27 Club).
Most recently, TK & THE LOVE rung in 2017 with a special sold out Women Who Rock show, then Talia's GEMINI MIND was featured as an official artist of The Sundance Institutes 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Which is a nice send off for GEMINI MIND'S SOUTHERN MOVEMENT TOUR, coming to a Southern town near you.
Dubbed "the hardest working musician in town"- 90.9 KRCL, TK keeps herself busy. Starting out 2016 with a bang as Equality Utah's Ms. January for their 2016 calendar, then winning Readers Choice for Salt Lake City Weekly's Best of Utah Music 2016 (BIG shout out to all the Fans for the write-in win!). With performances at TEDx Salt Lake City, Equality Utah's Allies Gayla, Electric Forest Music Fest, Lightning in a Bottle and Backwoods Music Fest. Finishing out 2016 with four national tours, over 120 days on the road, with a special treat supporting Bryon Friedman and Johnny Neel (Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, Dickey Betts) followed by a Parliament Funkadelic dance off opening for George Clinton.
GEMINI MIND lead the way in 2015 as direct support for Michael Franti & Spearhead (2015 Sundance Film Fest) followed by Karl Denson, Blues Traveler and hometown friends Royal Bliss. In addition to the 163 shows played, Talia recorded and released her first full length 11 song solo album, Fool's Gold. Tracking most of the parts herself, she enlisted help from ten of Salt Lake's finest to recreate the album live at The State Room, SLC, UT (July 31, 2015). Spawning the creation of Talia Keys & The Love.
Amidst three summer tours and a 2015 album release, TK headlined Women's Redrock Music Festival, Roots of the Rocks Revival, The Moab Pride Festival, performed all four days at The Electric Forest Music Fest, opened The Mystic Hot Springs Music Festival with Marinade (circa 2008-2015). Ending a seven year run as drummer/lead singer/songwriter. Closing out the season with Equality Utah's annual Allies Gayla, where she had the pleasure of performing in the opening segment and the closing number with the talented Mr. Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees.
Staying true, in 2014 Talia played 149 shows, recorded and released a six song solo EP- Gemini Mind, toured across the United States, filmed a commercial and licensed her original song "Me" for SKI CITY, and was named at the top of Insomniac's (EDC) 2014 Best of Electric Forest.
TK plays all types of music venues, music festivals and film festivals including 2010-17 Sundance Film Festival, 2014-16 Electric Forest Music Festival, 2016 Lightning in a Bottle, 2016 SLC Pride, 2015 TGR film premier, 2013 Arise Music Festival, 2011 European Independent Film Festival and Utah Burning Man. Headlined: Women's Redrock Music Fest, Moab Pride, Roots of the Rocks, Snowbasin BBQ and Blues and Desert Rocks Music Festival.
Advocating for human rights Talia uses her music to convey a message of growth, awareness and love. Promoting compassion and respect for our Earth and one another. "Music is very healing. If I can inspire just one person a show, I feel I am doing something right!" - Talia
Pixie and The Partygrass Boys
Pixie and The Partygrass Boys
Somewhere in the Wasatch Mountains, during the cold winter months, a rowdy group of ski bums and hippies gathered in the belly of a warm house. Drawn together by a common love of snow, fun, and bluegrass, they set out to howl at the moon and dance through the night in hopes of shaking a storm loose from the heavens to cover up the the stones and ice, and to wash clean the filthy air in the Salt Lake Valley.
