Cory Mon
Cory Mon
"music, my blessing, my curse, its in me and it must come out i can't help it i must play, write, compose and perform, without i am incomplete while with call me misfit in this world of the incorporated, i'm a man confused and divided thus in recourse i am often brightened and enlightened, i emphatically give way to both light and dark, i live in pleasure and pain. my name: cory."

Over the past year 3.5 years Cory Mon & The Starlight Gospel have quickly become one of the most exciting and talked about bands to come out of the Utah scene. Fusing multiple styles into their own virtuostic sound, their music can best be described as funky-introspective-roots-folk-rock. "It's no surprise that Cory Mon & the Starlight Gospel have become one of the biggest bands in the local music scene. With a lot of hard work and a load of undeniable talent they have built quite the fan base. I can always count on a positive vibe and high energy crowd when they play at my club." --Corey Fox, Velour Live Music Gallery. "Mon doesn't wearily strum through a song with over-familiar boredom; he performs it every time like he means it--with the same conviction as the day he wrote it." --Jason Pyles, UVU music critic.

It's clear that CM & the SG have hit a chord that resonates with the people of Utah and it's surrounding states. Their fanbase keeps growing with every venue, college, and festival performance. They have become one of the few main bands to regularly perform at Provo's premier venue Velour, which has itself been described as Utah's "Hotel Cafe". They have shared the stage with the likes of JJ Grey & Mofro, Todd Snider, Mavis Staples, Tom Freund, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Matt Nathanson, Sean Hayes, Joshua James, Mike Farris, Christopher Williams, and Matt Jennings. Through Matt they met Chad Weis, tour manager and sound engineer for Mason Jennings, Brett Dennen, The Bad Plus, Ben Kweller, etc., and were invited to record their new album at Chad's studio in Minneapolis. The organic quality that Chad captured in The Devil's Workshop turned out to be the perfect fit for CM & the SG's rootsy sound. They released the album "Six Days in the Devil's Workshop" on January 17th, 2009, and are working hard at pushing this album on the road.

The Wayne's music is described as "edgy, driving and elegant" The Wayne is made up of five talented musicians, each bringing different elements of creativity to the band. The band has written and recorded a number of songs over the year. A recent falling out between an engineer had delayed the release of their first full length album. The band is continuing to write and will soon be back in the recording studio.

Down to earth, yet powerful, frontman Dustin Wayne explains, "These are not your typical songs; these (songs) are from our lives and experiences.
